CASology Week #32 Flame

Hot dog!  What an interesting cue card CASology has for us:

I definitely had to think about this cue card.  I considered going with candles but birthday cards are just not my thing [not sure why but they aren't].  So, I was cooking supper on our gas range and thought, "hey there's a flame here."  An idea was born!

Here is my take:

Supplies: Cardstock [Staples, Papertrey Ink], Stamps [Lawn Fawn}, Dies [Papertrey Ink, Taylored Expressions], Button [Papertrey Ink].

I couldn't find the exact sentiment I wanted in the size I wanted so I created my own the same way I did for this post.  It might be hard to see from the front, but after I colour the range I trimmed out the inside of the oven and put a piece of acetate over the inside to simulate the oven glass.  Then I stamped the inside of the oven again masking the single cupcake.  I stamped and trimmed two cupcakes and mounted them on the inside of the oven.  Then I mounted the coloured and trimmed oven front over top of cupcakes.  Now it looks like I have two cupcakes inside an oven.  Fun!

I will be honest, this was not my first try [or even my third] at this card.  I really had trouble with a good clean and simple layout that I liked.  I ended up going back to a tried-and-true layout and it all came together finally!
